It’s been a while since I’ve been able to blog, but I am so excited that I’m finally able to share the holiday mini session I had with Andy and Christine! You might recognize them from their proposal story that was on my blog (view it here)!
Christine is one of my dearest friends from college and she’s always been a huge support to me in many ways! This past August I had the honor of standing by her side as one of her bridesmaids the day her and Andy exchanged their “I dos”! I was beyond thrilled when she asked to hire me to photograph their holiday portraits to commemorate their first Christmas as a married couple!
For their session, we met in the lovely land of Downtown Disneyland! Snowflakes in hand, we began their sweet session! :)
I asked Christine & Andy what their favorite thing about Christmas is and each replied in their own way:
“My favorite thing about Christmas is being able to get away from our busy lives and gather with family/friends in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ & all that God has done in our lives this year!”
– Christine
Andy’s response was quite similar, only he added: “And the yummy food is a plus!” :)
Believe it or not, but the blanket they’re holding is actually a scarf! Haha! Christine traveled to the cold, beautiful land of New Zealand shortly after our shoot and had purchased the scarf for her trip! It ended up being quite handy during the session! :)
For those of you who don’t know this lovely couple, I’d love to share one of my favorite quotes from Christine & Andy’s proposal story:
“…One of the things Andy loves doing is telling me “you’re so beautiful today!” Or “Did you know you’re so beautiful?” He tells me this almost everyday and he likes to grab my face when he says it. In the beginning I asked why he always says that..and later on he eventually told me that he learned it from his dad. Apparently his dad says that to his mom all the time.”
I love seeing the way Andy looks at Christine. It makes me so happy to see him love my best friend so much. And getting to see their love just flourish and bloom after their wedding is just so sweet!
“When we were dating, we would spend a good portion of our time at Starbucks because I needed to study a lot. Even though we don’t go to Starbucks as much anymore, it is still an important part of our story.”
– Andy
The two brought two Starbucks red cups to their session to give a little sentimentality to their session!
“The starbucks cups go all the way back to our dating period. Because I was still in college and Andy was in his first two years of medical school, we spent a lot of dates at starbucks! We always joked about him proposing at starbucks (but he didn’t). When he did propose, he and my close friends set up a mock version of starbucks at a park & our good friend Trisha designed a starbucks logo with our names engraved in it! That’s the story behind starbucks :)”
– Christine
I asked Andy & Christine what Christmas meant to them and I loved their answers!
“To me, Christmas means remembering that I was born a sinner, and without the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I would not be where I am at today.”
– Andy
Christine’s answer was about the same:
“Christmas = the sweetest birth of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ, hope, heaven is home, and spending time with the ones we love!”
Christmas is one of my favorite holidays for the very same reason! I love it! As it’s only 20 days away, I’ve been loving going through the holiday sessions I’ve had lately and getting to hear my client’s sweet responses!
Happy Friday! :)
