It was a beautiful day for Josephine & Nick’s engagement session! It had been hot the entire month, but the week of their session it cooled up a little bit–and there was wind! It was great! We started our session at Santa Rosa Plateau in Murrieta, and ended it in Old Town Temecula!
Josephine and I had been texting a lot prior to the session, so it was great to finally be able to put a face and voice to our talks! Just as it had been through communicating virtually, it was so comfortable getting to talk to both of them during the shoot! I loved hearing their stories–there were definitely laughs all around! :)
“We first met each other at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach. We were both in the same role as laboratory assistants in the Clinical laboratory. I had already been there 2 years and established my role as trainer and one of the senior employees. We had an immediate chemistry and the bickering began. It never stopped…”
– Nick
Nick was one of Josephine’s trainers when she first started, and she let me know that “Nick claims that all he could see on my forehead was ‘trouble’.” Haha! Indeed it is so, as Nick also shared with me his first impression of Josephine: “Honestly, my first impression of her was, “uh oh, she’s going to be trouble for me”. (in a good way of course)”.
Josephine’s first impression was a little more innocent. “…He was cute and seemed like a really nice guy that I had to get to know.”
They worked similar shifts and over time, ended up hanging out more and more out side of the hospital.
“My side of the story goes that we went on our first “date” out in Cabazon Premium Outlets. Jo is a shopaholic and i experienced it first hand. She didn’t think it was a date, but I decided to throw my arm around her anyway. She didn’t fight me off and the rest is history.”
Apparently, Nick never officially asked Josephine out, but throwing his arm over her shoulder was enough for her. ;)
I asked Josephine what were some things she loved about Nick, and her answer was so cute!
“I love that he is a true partner, helping around the house wherever he can. He caters to my OCD about keeping the house tidy whenever possible. I also am grateful for that he is so understanding, especially when I am venting and ranting about things in my everyday life. He is such a great listener. But most of all, I love Nick because he allowed me to have the second love of my life…Archer =)”
Now let me introduce you to Archer, the second love. He’s a beautiful husky-shepherd mix and was such a great “prop”! He was so sweet with his little fox scarf! :)
Gosh, they’re such a beautiful couple. :)
When Archer wasn’t “on set” he was running/walking around with Nick’s best friend, Tyler, who accompanied us on the shoot! :) I didn’t think he’d want to be posted up on here, so I’ll post these behind the scenes look in place of him! ;)
We moved on over to Old Town Temecula, and after an outfit change, we continued their session!
I also asked Nick about what he loved about Josephine, and I loved hearing his answer, too!
“I love that she will wake up earlier than she normally does on days where she has to work and I do not. She does this so she has time to take care of breakfast and the dog so that I can sleep in. I don’t get many opportunities to sleep in during the week, so those extra hours on the weekends are greatly appreciated. “
It was so sweet to hear Josephine’s early morning sacrifice to help Nick rest a little more! It shows so much about her care and concern over her fiancé. :)
I loved these shots because I found out this is a completely natural stance for Josephine to take when they’re together. :)
“I’ve learned that life is so much more rewarding when you can experience life events with the one you love. These life events may not have been spontaneous or planned, but the fact that I am are able to share them with someone makes them that much more special. Coming home from work was always a nice feeling, but now I get to come home to someone who is waiting for me. It is an amazing feeling.”
– Nick
These two were so natural around one another… I couldn’t help but smile during their entire session! :)
As the sun went down, it gave us great opportunities to use the great street lights in Old Town for beautiful bokeh! :)
“No person or relationship is perfect, but Nick teaches me to be more understanding and makes me want to be a better person when I’m around him. We try not to take one another for granted and have an open communication with one another. Good communication is the key to a successful relationship.”
– Josephine
We ended the session in their Red Sox caps, which happens to be Nick’s favorite team! Then, we headed on over to one of the greatest restaurants in Old Town that I know of–Public House! :)
John and I had SO much fun with Josephine, Nick, Archer & Tyler! And I can’t wait to capture their wedding in December! If you want to stay up to date with their wedding, and hear more about their story, make sure to like my Facebook Page and click on “Get Notifications”!
