Philip and Ruby met at UCR as they both started their journey as Computer Science majors. With common interests, they quickly became friends, but were living their own separate lives at the time. But as time would tell, after they both graduated they spent more and more time with each other, working on projects alongside of friends, and eventually just spending periods of time with each other over lunch, dinner, movies, playing games, and other things! I’ll save more of the details of their awesome love story for their wedding blog, but that is the start of it! :)
When I asked the two of them to give me five words and adjectives that describe them as a couple, they gave me these: “love”, “silly”, “games”, “bunnies”, and “nerdy”. And as I worked with them during their engagement session, I saw some of these words come to life. :)
The photoshoot was on a nice day! It wasn’t too hot, and the sky was pretty clear! We met in Downtown Riverside and started off our day walking around. Both of them came in casual outfits that really represented their love of gaming–jeans and tees that sported Portal (a video game), and the awesome Ninja Turtles! Philip told me a little bit about their normal attire, and this is what he said: “We both wear business like clothing for work but underneath the attire I generally have a nerdy shirt or something of that nature and she’ll always be in a nerdy shirt outside of work.” Haha! I loved that their outfit truly represented who they were, and it was something I was able to capture! :)
What I absolutely loved about this shoot is that you can tell that they absolutely love spending time with one another, no matter what they’re doing! They told me before that they didn’t really take formal pictures together, but whether it was through their personal conversations or little moments together during the shoot, their love totally made their photos so personal, natural and great! :)
I was so excited when they brought along this awesome prop–HARRY POTTER! I have always been a huge fan of Harry Potter! :) They brought a few other props as well, which you will see! :)
The next prop they brought was an awesome Nintendo 3DS and another awesome feat: POKEMON!! I am also a huge pokemon fan! :)
Of course, after seeing them playing around with this behind the scenes, we had to do the Hadouken! ;)
From here we traveled over to Downtown Riverside to take some photos in the place where they met! :)
I can’t wait to photograph these two’s lovely wedding! :)
Happy Friday!
