One of my nearest and dearest, Abi, is heading out to East Asia for an entire year! Abi and I have been besties since our freshman year of high school! I’ve told this story several times, but I haven’t in a while! So here it goes:
I met Abi for the first time the summer before I started high school! We both went to summer camp and the first I heard of her, she was this cool girl from Illinois who was good enough to practice with the JV team! I was pretty intimidated by her, to say in the least. Haha :)
When try-outs came along, I hurried along to the locker rooms to change. I opened up my backpack to take out my clothes, when I realized I had forgotten something quite important–shoes. What was I wearing that day to school? Flats. There was no way I would be able to try out in flats. So I ran through the locker room, hoping desperately that someone would have an extra pair of size 7 athletic shoes. Who was I kidding though, right?
I had no hope of finding shoes, until I asked little Abi, who surprisingly said, “yeah…” She was a bit hesitant, but we know now that God put it onto her heart to help me out, which helped me get onto the volleyball team, so that we could miraculously end up the best of friends that we are now!
We have gone through so very much together: we took classes together, studied together, served on leadership at school together, and served on our church’s youth leadership team together. When college started, we were separated for the first time!
As four years have gone by, we have been best friends even still! When we see each other, it’s as if we hadn’t been away from each other at all! :) A quick flashback to the past, this is from the last photoshoot with Abi! We took this using a tripod during our senior year! We both chopped our hair right after prom. :D
It’s been 4 years since I have been able to photograph her gorgeous face, and I didn’t want another year to go by! So before she hopped on a plane (not to LAX), but to East Asia, I decided to take a couple shots of her before she left me for another year! :)
We stuck around her neighborhood for the sake of time, because afterwards, we were going to feast on a potluck with her family and three other of our besties! :)
So she has never sat on her porch chairs before–until this day that I asked her to! Haha! Little did we know that it would leave white allllllll over her! Haha!
Haha! What a good sport! ;)
We then asked Papa Wong to take photos of us together! :)
Papa Wong wanted different backgrounds, so he posed us in different places! Haha :)
Afterwards, we headed back inside to wait for the others, who were late (as usual). Haha ;)
Naturally, I brought dessert! I couldn’t decide between cookies, or brownies, so I brought the best of both worlds–brownies with cookies on top!
Abi made a wonderful garlic parmesan pasta that was served with meatballs! “Is this enough for 10 people?” Haha it was enough for maybe 20!
Brothers and sisters in Christ, if you’re reading this, keep her in your prayers! You know what she’s doing out there! Doin’ WORK! ;)
Also, just in case you don’t know already, the 2014 Senior Model Rep Contest for the free photoshoot begins TODAY! Check it out here!
