Everyone needs a weekend out! A time to unwind and relax, and just enjoy their time! Every year, two beautiful mothers, Lauren and Julie go on a weekend vacation with each other, and this year, they graciously paid for a room for my friend, Gail, and me to tag along and babysit Lauren’s baby girl, Mallory. This past weekend, I was blessed with the opportunity to stay somewhere I would have never thought I’d ever get to be–at the famous, and luxurious W hotel in Hollywood!
During this time, I decided that this weekend I would go unplugged–or at least leave behind my dear dSLR at home! I wanted to practice really being present wherever I am! But, like most photographers, I couldn’t not take any photos! So, I resorted to the best I could find: my handy dandy iPhone (But of course I didn’t allow that to get in the way of being present)! Please excuse the grain!
After arriving in LA, Gail and I made a break for MILK, famous for their ice cream sandwiches they make with giant macarons! :) Unfortunately, that day they ran out of salted caramel, but we opted for a Thai Tea ice cream sandwich, and a custom chocolate chip cookie sandwich with hazelnut ice cream (I also got a kids size grilled cheese sandwich with turkey, which was delicious!). If you ever get the chance, please stop by it on Beverly Boulevard. :)
After MILK, we headed to the W to check out the scene! :) We pulled up next to crazy expensive ritzy cars in our in-need-of-a-wash Toyota Corola. Our eyes widened even more as we went in and realized that we were two fish out of water. Everyone around us walked around in heels and designer clothes, and we were just two girls with our bags (and my huge pillow that I can’t go anywhere without from SleepLikeABear.com)–talk about intimidation! But we waited there patiently and excitedly for Gail’s friends to come meet us in the lobby!
When we got into our room, our jaws dropped even more. Our rooms were beautiful (excuse our mess).
And what two do two women with B.S.s in their 20s do?
Jump on the luxurious beds, of course! ;)
We walked around and took a couple of pictures around the hotel before we got to work. :) I chose to only post two to save us from embarrassment. Haha
And after a while, we headed back up to our room to babysit sweet little Mallory. :) Gail is a natural with children!
This is the awesome view we had!
The sun went down as little Mallory slept, and Gail and I talked and worked on Gail’s dance moves that she would be teaching at her church’s Kids Game program. :)
We ordered an AMAZING dinner of different types of steak with potatoes. It was delicious, and extremely filling, and at the end of the night, we both felt like we had to be rolled around to move.
The next day, we were able to order another delicious meal of ricotta pancakes with carmel bananas, and eggs Benedict with breakfast potatoes. Another extremely filling and amazing meal. :)
It took a while after breakfast for us to get up and ready for the rest of the day. I, for one, didn’t want to leave my comfortable bed. :) Gail did my makeup for the day! Please excuse my face on the left. I don’t know how to pose in makeup pictures. Haha
After we packed up our car and checked out, we headed on our way to Reality LA. Reality LA is one amazing church! I am always so blessed by the community and the messages, and the worship there! :) Gail and I decided to have some coffee before the sermon started! :)
After being extremely blessed by the message by the guest pastor, Dave Lomas, we made our way to Pasadena for lunch at Lemonade! :) If you ever go to Lemonade, try out their white truffle macaroni and cheese. It is by far, one of my favorite macaroni dishes I have ever had. :) Their Blood Orange Lemonade is also amazing! :) Their macarons are, too! Actually, just try everything! Haha
We decided to walk from Lemonade to Lette for some macarons, but got lost on the way and ran into this street fair hosted by WowJam. It was an outreach event hosted by three different local churches! SUCH an amazing sight to see these churches offering up their services and talents to bless their community! :)
Once we got to Lette, we ordered a box for thanks to Lauren and Julie, and a couple for ourselves. :) One of my favorites is the Wedding Almond macaron! :) YUM!
After Lette, we walked back to the car (in total we walked 3 miles!) and headed to Factory Tea Bar in San Gabriel for some boba! They have some of the best boba I have ever tasted! So good!
After boba, we headed back home to one of our best friend’s graduation party! :)
And that was the end of our amazingly blessed weekend trip! What’s your favorite girls weekend? Or man trip? ;)
Happy Wednesday!
