When Wes first told me that I was going to take photos at his proposal, I was ecstatic! Wes and Sandy are one of the cutest couples I have ever met! :) I met Wes at the fellowship we attended in college, Asian American Christian Fellowship. When I first was introduced to him, he was a lot quieter than I know him now to be. Three years down the line, and I’ve seen a whole lot of his sarcasm, and his craziness. I have also seen him grow into a great man of God. I finally got to meet Sandy officially not too long after, and immediately loved her personality and who she was! She is so sweet and just such a beautiful woman inside and out! CONGRATS to you both! :)
Wes and Sandy are high school sweethearts that met in their AP Literature class their senior year. When I had asked Sandy how they started to get to know each other, it made me laugh to discover that they started talking because of “Fishville.” If you haven’t heard of it, it’s an online Facebook game where you get to build an aquarium and buy fish to put in it. You get to feed the fish and play games with them! I have to admit, it was one of the games that I played, myself, along with Farmville and Restaurant City. :) Sandy told me that “Wes had an awesome fish tank” and she asked him for help in gaining more coins to build on hers. They went on their first date not too long after, in which they saw a movie and walked down “Christmas Card Lane,” and a little while after, Wes asked Sandy to officially become his girlfriend. From there, things started to unravel quickly.
As the big day approached, Wes’s texts to me about how he was proposing became more and more frantic, but after a great deal of thinking, praying and just… trying to figure things out, Wes finally came up with his master plan!
Here are a few photos from this wonderful and exciting day! :)
Sandy shared with us afterwards that Wes rushed through their fancy dinner at Hotel Del Coronado, stating that they had to be somewhere at 7pm. She was definitely surprised to see that he was rushing for a s’mores date! Little did she know…
After waiting a while, finally a man came to light the fire pit!
I love Wes’s face in the next three photos as he waits for Sandy to finish Instagramming so he could pop the question! He looks so anxious!
And then we THOUGHT he would have the ability to propose finally, as she put the phone down… but then this happened…
And we had to run back to our hiding positions. Poor Kevin! He had to walk casually away before Sandy would notice! Haha and poor Wes!
And so we played the waiting game a bit longer… And Sandy had to wipe some s’mores off of Wes’s face.
And once the time was right, Wes turned to get into position as he waited for Kevin to come and play their special song, “Everything” by Michael Buble. :)
He had to wait a while… (the walk was pretty far for Kevin) haha. :)
And once it was all in place….
He began to shyly ask. :)
She had no idea there was a group of Chinese tourists standing, videotaping and listening as he asked her this very important question…
Just kidding of course it was her family…! ;)
Take notice men… he’s down on TWO knees. :)
She said, “YES!” :)
And then we all got caught. :)
SURPRISE Sandy!!!!
Hugs, squeals of excitement, and phone calls filled the next few minutes as Sandy and Wes took everything in.
She was so cute as she squealed excitedly, “We’re getting married!” It was a scream so filled with joy, that everyone was instantly filled with happiness and excitement for them both!
Nice pick of a ring, Wes! She couldn’t keep her eyes off of it! It was a beauty! ;)
After Sandy got off the phone, Kevin decided to take a photo to post onto Instagram of the newly engaged couple!
Little did he know that he captured a video instead of Sandy screaming “We’re ENGAGED!”
Wes’s new ring tone? I think yes. :)
And as the sun set, it became the perfect time to take some photos. I love golden hour. It just added to the loving warmth and joy that filled everyone’s hearts as we witnessed this new step in Wes and Sandy’s relationship. :)
And then the two together! I love the chemistry between them both! When they weren’t looking directly at the camera, they were so natural and just captivated by each other that it was as if I wasn’t even there. :)
DANG Wes. Haha
Such a beautiful couple! They are perfect for one another! :)
To end the night, we headed to Sandy’s parent’s house, where we got to celebrate with her and Wes’s family! :)
Love this shot of Sandy’s dad jumping in on her photo! He was so funny! :)
Now he has two beautiful daughters getting married! :)
It’s so funny how all three of them are the same height! :)
CONGRATULATIONS WES & SANDY! :)
And of course, the moment (after) that I’m sure you are all expecting! THE BEHIND THE SCENES PORTION!
As we waited for the cue to take our places, here are a couple of shots of John, Katie, Kevin and me waiting and preparing!
Guess where John was hiding! Hahaha
If you said, “behind the trashcans,” you’re right! Haha! I hid with a very welcoming and friendly bunch of mothers who were at the Hotel for Mother’s Day weekend! I was surprised that Sandy didn’t see me because I kind of stood out like a sore thumb since they were all caucasian and a bit older than me. Haha :)
And us after the deed was done! :)
My favorite bloopers, however, are of Wes, during and after he proposed!
I turned to him right after Sandy turned to hug her family, and Wes gave me this look. His sigh of relief. Haha :)
And his relaxed “thank-God-she-said-yes-and-this-is-now-over” face. Haha
And of course, his typical character shots from during the posed shoot!
And a glimpse of the beautiful sun set we got to watch. :)
What a beautiful way to end such a wonderful day! :)
Happy Monday!
