I drove up to a house I was familiar with–a house I hadn’t seen in a long time. In over 8 years, in fact. And as Sam, my assistant and I walked up to the house, memories of making Christmas tamales and waiting for a red truck to come and pick us up from school flooded through my mind. This was the house of my good friend, Ramona.
Ramona was one of my best friends in Middle School. We used to carpool home, and take the bus together all the time. We shared books, and secrets and even had one of those notebooks that we’d pass around to each other every day. Her younger brother, Martín, was barely ever around since he was still in Elementary school, but I definitely remembered that he was much shorter than us at the time.
As time went by and we saw little of each other as we each got involved in our own school activities in high school, we saw less and less of each other. When college hit, it was even less. So now, as I opened up my inbox, I was very surprised and happy to see a message from her. But the lines I read next were even more shocking: “my brother is graduating, and we’d like to get his pictures taken.” My heart almost stopped–I couldn’t believe it! Just then, it hit me how much time had passed, and how much older we were now.
Flashing back to the present, when Ramona opened the door and we walked in, I was nearly stupefied to come face to face with Martín, who now towered over me by at least a head.
A tall and handsome young man, Martín shocked both me and Sam with not only his height, but what the musician he is! Playing both the guitar and the tuba, we both concurred that he is quite the talented young man! The photoshoot was so much fun! We got to listen to him play some wonderful music as well as take some great photos! :) Like most, he was quite shy at the beginning of the shoot, but as time passed by, it quickly faded away and he became a natural! :)
Here are some of my favorites from the day! We started at a beautiful local park in Murrieta! :)
I had the lovely opportunity of taking both Ramona and Martín’s photos for a little bit as well! :)
Then we headed over to Downtown Temecula for the remainder of the shoot! :)
And to end with a couple of funnies. :)
Indeed, I do look like a midget. HAHA
Happy Tuesday! :)
