I’m sure many of you have a group of friends that you love to hang out with and almost need to at least every once in a while to keep you sane. Finally, after almost a year, I got the opportunity to meet up with two of my best friends who definitely fall under that category of friends (part of my future bridal party, for sure!).
Sadly, the three of us have been pulled apart in different areas of California, so it has been difficult to really come together often. I’d say we only find real quality time with each other (over two hours) about one time a year… usually around Valentine’s Day. They’re like my valentine’s day dates, always. ;)
This year, we decided to spend some time with each other in Los Angeles! Woo! As Gail and I drove over, she set the mood by sharing with me the song, “Hey LA” by Ryan Beatty. A catchy tune by a young artist similar to the Beibs.
To start off the adventure, we made it to the late service at Reality LA in Hollywood and heard a great and heartfelt message by Tim Chaddick. Afterwards, we headed off to the Westin in LA and experienced the amazingness of the Revolving Lounge for some food and dessert. If you haven’t been there yet, do it. Abi, Gail and I gorged on the fries (double helpings), split a burger that was huge, and definitely indulged in their Banana Cream Pie Crem Brule (it may have a different name, but it something close to that). I can assure you, I put trying to eat healthy on a halt for this mini vacation.
The following day we hiked up to the Hollywood sign! It was an easy hike, and it helped to stop and take tourist pictures as we went up! So many people go, so if you want to have a little bit of a more private time with your loved one that you take up there, I would suggest going a bit early!! :)
Once we got down, we were famished, so we headed to Venice Beach and had some healthy food at Lemonade, a super hip and chic place for lunch and for dates. ;) It started off on a healthy kick, but as we had a macaroon and their delicious lemonade, things went downhill. We ended up getting Blockheads for shaved cream (similar to shaved cream–but better), and In-N-Out for dinner! (And then Gail and I secretly picked up some Guppy’s boba and brick toast on the way back home).
Needless to say it was a pretty sweet time with two of my favorite girls! It was such a blessing and if you are ever in LA on a date, or just hanging out with the girlfriends (or the men, for you gents), check out those places! :) It was a ton of fun!!
Here are just a handful of photos from our trip!
I’ll start off with this fantastic crem brule (and our almost devoured order of parmesan fries that went along with our burger that had fries with it). :)
This is only one view from the lounge… every hour it rotates fully around in a full circle! It’s crazy to watch as the buildings move!! Or rather, YOU move! I would definitely love a date here! SO COOL! Unless you’re afraid of heights…
Our hike to the Hollywood sign was so much fun! But beware of the horse poop! Haha Once we got to the top, Gail found a little nook so we could get closer to the sign for pictures! Abi was a little slow. Haha ;) Just kidding! But she looked like a little nugget from where we were at!
It was a big cloudy, but it was perfect weather for hiking! Not TOO hot, not unbearably cold!
And these are my beautiful friends with the sign. :)
Perks of being asian: when my hair is up in a bun and I’m in workout clothes, I look like a child. (And then when I grow older, BAM! I shall definitely look older.)
An example of one delicious meal served at Lemonade. :) Yes, indeed that is pretzel bread.
And a picture from Blockheads. :) It was DELICIOUS.
Didn’t stand a chance against our stomachs.
If you’re in the area and haven’t tried these places already, take your loved one(s) and go check them out! Tell me what you think! :)
Happy Friday!
